How 42Trivia collects, uses, shares, and protects information in the mobile app.

This Privacy Policy explains how 42 Trivia ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the 42Trivia mobile app (the "App").
If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- A. Account Information: email address and password (for email sign-up/sign-in), Apple Sign In data (identity token and, if provided by Apple, name and email), and basic account identifiers such as user ID.
- B. Profile and Gameplay Information: username; game stats and progression including points, coins, games played, high score, best time, wins, last game score/time, and level; in-game inventory/status data including owned power-ups and trophies; daily free-game usage and quota fields (such as games started/remaining and local day); and time zone string used to calculate daily game quotas.
- C. Leaderboard Information: your username and high score may be shown to other authenticated users in the in-app leaderboard.
- D. Purchase and Subscription Information: purchase/subscription status, entitlements, product identifiers, and restore status processed through RevenueCat and app stores (Apple App Store / Google Play).
- E. Advertising Data: the App integrates Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to request/display ads for free users; ad requests may involve device/app/network metadata handled by Google; the App is configured to request non-personalized ads.
- F. Diagnostics and Performance Data: crash reports, error logs, and performance traces via Sentry, with user context (user ID and email) used to help diagnose account-specific issues.
- G. Local Device Storage Data: authentication session tokens stored locally using secure storage, plus local app settings/gameplay state such as sound settings, cart state, and cached user/game state.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Create and manage user accounts.
- Authenticate users and keep sessions active.
- Run gameplay features, game progression, and leaderboard functionality.
- Enforce daily free-game limits.
- Process and restore purchases/subscriptions.
- Serve ads to non-Pro users.
- Detect, prevent, and fix bugs and service issues.
- Improve app performance, reliability, and security.
3. How We Share Information
We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the App:
- Supabase (authentication and app database).
- RevenueCat (subscription and purchase management).
- Google AdMob (ad delivery for free users).
- Sentry (error/crash/performance monitoring).
- Apple / Google (in-app purchase processing and subscription management).
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
4. Ads, Tracking, and Similar Technologies
The App serves ads through AdMob for users without ad-free entitlement.
The App requests non-personalized ads.
The App does not currently implement an in-app ATT prompt or custom cross-app tracking flow.
5. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the App and comply with legal obligations:
- Account and gameplay data are retained while your account is active.
- If you delete your account, associated account records are deleted from our app backend (subject to operational/legal exceptions).
- Third-party providers (for example, purchase processors and monitoring tools) may retain some records under their own policies.
- Local data remains on your device until cleared by app reset/uninstall or OS-level data removal.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Update your username in-app.
- Change your password in-app (email/password accounts).
- Restore purchases in-app.
- Manage subscriptions from Apple/Google subscription settings.
- Delete your account in-app (Profile -> Delete Account).
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights (for example, access, deletion, correction, or appeal rights). Contact us to request these.
7. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13 (or under the minimum age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age threshold.
If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our providers operate.
Those countries may have different data protection laws.
10. Permissions and Device Access
The App may request or declare platform permissions such as internet/network access, vibration, and audio-related capabilities required for app functionality and SDK operation.
Current builds include microphone/storage-related declarations from app dependencies.
The App is designed for playback of in-game audio effects and does not intentionally record or store microphone audio during normal gameplay.
11. Push Notifications
Push notification libraries/capabilities may exist in the app project, but push messaging is not currently used as a core production feature in the current implementation.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice.
